"Growing up, I played every sport I could. I was a state level hockey player, cross-country runner and a national level squash player. My parents owned a squash centre, so the majority of my childhood and teenage years was mainly focused on squash. I reached #2 in Australia as a junior before deciding to stop playing at age 18.
Soon after I started road cycling with the North Coast Academy of Sport development squad. I mixed road racing with MTB with my first cycling coach Faron Young, who taught me about the world of cycling. I found I started to excel in endurance races. 6, 12 or 24 hour races - the longer the better. My first 24hr race was the 2006 Australian Championships. I finished 2nd in the u/23's and 8th overall. With about one hour to go in this race I started to hallucinate and thought the trees were talking to me...while wearing pin stripe suits.
In 2008 I decided to test myself in Europe racing on and offroad. I moved to Den Haag, the Netherlands, with my brother Cameron, a professional squash player. I had no team, contacts or set up. But I knew hard training and results is how you make it. My brother is a huge influence of mine and also has supported me on and off the bike during my career. He taught me how to be a professional athlete and without his guidance or support, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I spent four years based in the Netherlands, racing for various teams and eventually focusing on 24hr racing. In 2011 I moved to Italy to live and race, where I continue today, mixing between endurance racing, marathon distance and now trail/ultra distance running."
