2020!

New year, new goals (kind of)!

After winding back on my mountain bike commitments last year, I'm going to continue to focus on running; trail, sky and ultra distance. For the first part of the season I've locked into a races on the Ultra trail World Tour - The Penyagolosa Trail, Ultra Trail Australia and the Val D'Aran by UTMB.

Three solid 100km+ races. The Val D'Aran will be interesting as it it's 160km and 10000m of elevation in the Spanish Pyrenees.

These will be my focus, with of course a number of other races thrown in. Also i'll be heading back to Qatar in February for the Al Adaid Desert Challenge, my only (so far) MTB race of the season.

The second part of the season i'll work out in the coming months, with the only event confirmed is the annual 24hr Ride for Youth in Australia, in September.

So far training over winter has been progressing well, racking up consistent kms and increasing long runs. One of the biggest factors of transferring my fitness over to running has been conditioning my legs. Aerobically the engine is there, but it's been a case of making sure my body can physically take the toll and pounding that running does it. I've also noticed that my "cycling muscles", like hip flexors and quads, slowly shrink as I develop more of a runners body.

And i'm also extremely delighted to have MJO Legal continue to support me.

It will be the 7th season they have backed me and it always gives me great pride to represent a Clarence Valley business on the world stage.

Not only do they support me as an athlete but also the 24hr Ride for Youth event each year; directly and indirectly. See you on the trails!
